With Alan sitting in, Jerry Espenson and new attorney Katie Lloyd take the case of a man charged with murder, but Katie takes the lead before Judge Weldon, seeing something in her client that no one else does. Alan takes on academic research studies on the environment funded by oil companies. Judge Gloria Weldon makes a startling request of Alan.

Episode 15 Tabloid Nation:

Alan and Jerry take a court case having to deal with a TV tabloid talk show when a woman rejects an ex-boyfriend's wedding proposal on air and then gets murdered. Shirley defends an old friend who happens to be a war veteran and shoots seals in order to live off of. Meanwhile, Denny tries to win Shirley's affection back by resorting to drastic measures while going out to dinner with her. Also, Lorraine thinks Alan should get some help after learning that he used to "murder" his toys as a child.
